With the strong support of the Rural Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the fifth Jinshan High-end Forum on Food Physical Processing sponsored by our university was held in Zhenjiang on December 3. Leaders from the Department of environment and textile engineering of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Science and Technology Bureau of Chinese Academy of Science, the Rural Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology attended the forum and delivered important speeches. President Xiaohong Yan of our university gave a welcome speech. Professor Jian Chen, the president of Jiangnan University and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, professor Noguchi Meitoku from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and more than 16 experts made special reports in the forum. The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by professor Haile Ma, the dean of the Institute of Food Physical Processing.
Food Physical Processing is a research field with scientific connotation and development prospects, which can be considered an innovative product of the interaction of food science and physics. Since the first symposium held by our university in 2014, experts attending the symposium have conducted extensive discussions on the connotation and framework of food physical processing, scientific significance, and industrial prospects, which have been highly praised by peers at home and abroad. The theme of this symposium is “Intelligent, Nutrition, High-efficiency, and Low-carbon”. More than 70 experts and scholars from 30-some universities, institutes, and enterprises such as Jiangnan University, China Agricultural University, Zhejiang University, Huazhong Agricultural University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, South China University of Technology, Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University, Jiangsu University, Guangdong Ocean University, Yangtze University, Zhengzhou University of Light Industry, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Liaoning Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hubei Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Sanyuan Dairy Co. Ltd., Ningbo Zhongwu Sterilization Technology Co. Ltd., and Suzhou Niumai Analytical Instrument Co. Ltd., participated in the symposium. They exchanged the up-to-date progress of food physical processing and related equipment and deeply discussed the development trend of this field.
The fifth Jinshan conference also composed the repots on Science issues and Frontier Technology of Food Physical Processing. We hope that the report can comprehensively summarize the research work in the past five years and thoroughly prospect the medium- and long-term development of food physical processing.
