Professor Haile Ma was awarded the title of “13th Five-Year Plan” Outstanding Science and Technology Worker in the Machinery Industry

On November 22nd, the China Machinery Industry Federation issued a document, “Decision on Commending Excellent Science and Technology Workers and Excellent Innovation Teams in Machinery Industry in the 13th Fiver-Year Plan”. Professor Haile Ma from our institute was awarded the title of “13th Fiver-Year Plan” Outstanding Science and Technology Worker in the Machinery Industry.

During the period of the “13th Fiver-Year Plan”, China’s machinery industry has made great progress in scientific and technological innovation. In order to encourage the enthusiasm and creativity of science and technology workers in the machinery industry and promote the construction of talent teams, the China Machinery Industry Federation has decided to carry out the selection of outstanding science and technology workers, innovations leaders, outstanding innovative teams and platforms in the machinery industry.

Professor Haile Ma has constantly been committed to investigating food physical processing technology and related equipment. During the period of the “13th Fiver-Year Plan”, he led the research team to complete the creation of the design and manufacturing technology of catalytic infrared emitter, which has achieved a breakthrough from zero to one in China. Through volume production, this technology has freed the Chinese market from the dependence on imports from Europe and the United States and has solved the big problem of the energy-saving and low-carbon technology of catalytic infrared for large-scale applications in China. Professor Haile Ma has drafted the first machinery industrial standard on catalytic infrared heating equipment, “JB/T 14374-2022 Food Machinery-Catalytic Infrared Heating Equipment”, and more than 10 related engineering projects have been completed. On the basis of the “frequency spectrum-space effect”, Professor Haile Ma designed a new approach to ultrasonic processing equipment for liquid foods and created the first random sweep frequency ultrasonic generator. Meanwhile, he also developed more than 20 sets of novel ultrasonic equipment with various working modes, drafted the machinery industrial standard, “JB/T 14373-2022 Ultrasonic Liquid Food Processing Equipment”, and successfully applied these ultrasonic devices to strengthen the processes of protein enzymolysis, active compound extraction, fruit and vegetable cleaning, strain mutagenesis, and other food processing.

During the period of the “13th Fiver-Year Plan”, Professor Haile Ma’s research team also completed the development of an intelligent control system for food bio-manufacturing based on in-situ real-time monitoring, solid-state fermentation equipment, multi-light microbial mutagenizer, automatic root and leaf removal device for vegetables with long strip shapes, low-temperature ultrasonic pickling equipment, etc., and started the research and development of breeding and processing equipment for forage insects and equipment for pet food processing.

As the saying goes, “Good tools are prerequisite to the successful execution of a job”, the level of equipment is a vital indicator representing the development of the national manufacturing industry. Professor Haile Ma attaches great importance to the research on design theory and food processing equipment development, and his scientific and technological innovation and transformation of achievements have been reported in CCTV Discovery, China Science News, Science and Technology Daily, Guangming Daily, China Food News, Xinhua Daily, Jiangsu Economic News and other mainstream media for many times.
