Professor Haile Ma (Dean & Director)

      Professor Haile Ma is the Dean of the Institute of food physical processing and the Director of theInternational Joint Research Center for Food Physical Processing. He established and served as the responsible person of six provincial and ministerial level scientific research institutes, including Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory for Food Physical Processing, Jiangsu Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Food Intelligent Manufacturing, Technology Integration base for Vegetable Dehydration Processing Ministry of Agriculture, etc. Moreover, Professor Ma has also served as the Vice-Chairman of the Asian Agricultural Engineering Society, the Director of the Chinese Food Science and Technology Association and duties of other academic organizations.

      Professor Ma led the research group to systematically investigate the studies on food physical processing technology and equipment and creatively applied sound, light, electricity, magnetism and other modern physical technologies to food biological manufacturing and agricultural product processing. A series of new products and more than 20 sets of novel equipment of ultrasound, infrared and magnetic field have been designed and developed. The corresponding outcomes have been successfully applied in more than 10 enterprises and have produced significant benefits of economy and society. Professor Ma presided over more than 70 scientific research projects such as the National 863 Plan and the National Key R & D Plan and won 15 provincial and ministerial level and industrial science and technology awards as the first accomplisher. Over 630 papers have been published, including more than 200 SCI, more than 100 EI, 9 treatises and textbooks, and 50 authorized invention patents.

      Professor Ma is in charge of the national excellent course Food Processing Machinery and Equipment, which is a sharing course of national excellent resources. Food Machinery and Equipment and Food Color Chemistry edited by Professor Ma have been approved as the key textbooks in Jiangsu Province, among which Food Machinery and Equipment is set as the national planning textbook. As the first accomplisher, Professor Ma won the first prize of Jiangsu Province Graduate Education Reform Achievement and the second prize of Jiangsu Province Education Achievement, respectively. He guided students won the awards of the Challenge Cup for 3 times, including 2 times of the first prize. In 2015, Professor Ma was rated as the top teacher of the undergraduate education in Jiangsu University. Additionally, more than 160 postgraduates have been trained and supervised by Professor Ma since he started his career.
